About the CTET exam

The eligibility test to become a teacher in central-government and many private schools. The certificate has lifetime validity.

Eligibility

  • Paper I (Classes 1–5): Senior Secondary (50%) with a Diploma/Degree in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed / B.El.Ed), or as specified.
  • Paper II (Classes 6–8): Graduation with B.Ed or the prescribed elementary-education qualification.
  • A candidate wanting to teach both levels appears for both papers.

Exam pattern & selection

  1. Paper I (150 marks · 150 MCQ · 2.5 hours)
    Child Development & Pedagogy (30), Language I (30), Language II (30), Mathematics (30) and Environmental Studies (30).
  2. Paper II (150 marks · 150 MCQ · 2.5 hours)
    Child Development & Pedagogy (30), Language I (30), Language II (30) and either Mathematics & Science or Social Studies (60).

Selection: Qualify with 60% (55% for reserved categories). No negative marking. The certificate is valid for life.
