About the SSC CGL exam

The gateway to Group B and Group C posts across central-government ministries and departments (Inspector, Assistant, Auditor, JSO and more).

Eligibility

  • Age: generally 18 to 32 years, varying by post (e.g. 18–27, 20–30), with relaxation for reserved categories.
  • Qualification: Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university; some posts have specific requirements.

Exam pattern & selection

  1. Tier 1 (200 marks · 100 questions · 1 hour)
    General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension. Qualifying — 0.50 negative marking.
  2. Tier 2 (multiple papers)
    Paper I (compulsory): Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning & GI, English, General Awareness, Computer Knowledge and a Data Entry test. Paper II for JSO and Paper III for AAO/AAcO posts.

Selection: Tier 1 (qualifying) → Tier 2 → document verification → post allocation by merit and preference.
