About the RRB NTPC exam

Popular non-technical railway posts such as Station Master, Goods Train Manager, Clerk, Typist and Accounts Assistant, at both graduate and 12th-pass levels.

Eligibility

  • Age: 18–36 years for graduate-level posts and 18–33 years for undergraduate (12th-pass) posts, with relaxation for reserved categories.
  • Qualification: Graduation for graduate-level posts; 12th pass (or equivalent) for undergraduate-level posts.

Exam pattern & selection

  1. CBT 1 (100 marks · 90 minutes)
    General Awareness, Mathematics and General Intelligence & Reasoning. Screening stage — 1/3 negative marking.
  2. CBT 2 (120 marks)
    Same subjects at a higher level and weightage, used for the merit list.
  3. Typing Skill Test / Computer-Based Aptitude Test
    Post-specific — a typing test (for typist/clerk posts) or CBAT (for Station Master), then Document Verification and Medical.

Selection: CBT 1 → CBT 2 → Typing Test / CBAT (post-wise) → Document Verification → Medical examination.
